New Delhi : Prime accused in the Nitish Katara murder case, Vikas Yadav Friday sought court’s intervention to bar a key prosecution witness, Ajay Katara, from making statements to media.
Defence counsel G.K. Bharti moved an application before Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur contending that Ajay was trying to frame the accused, Vikas, and his cousin Vishal Yadav, by giving misleading statements to media.
“The witness (Ajay) is trying to lower the image of the accused by making false statements to the press,” the application stated.
The court after perusing the application issued notices to Ajay and the prosecution, seeking reply from them.
Ajay had told the court that he had seen the victim with Vikas, Vishal and another accused, Sukhdev Pehlwan, in a car on the fateful night Feb 16-17, 2002 near Hapur Mandi.
The victim was last seen in the company of the accused before he was found murdered.
The court has posted the next hearing for Jan 8.
