Ramallah : Palestinian security forcesarrested eight members of Islamic Hamas movement Friday night inWest Bank, Hamas said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by Hamas, the detentions tookplace in the cities of Jenin and Tulkarem.The security forces, loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah,have been arresting Hamas leaders and members in the West Bank inresponse to the Islamic movement’s takeover of Gaza by force inJune.
Fatah accuses Hamas of doing the same against its members inthe Hamas-run Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Khalil Abu Laila, a Hamas official in Gaza, said thesecurity services’ procedures in the West Bank are meant to “uproot the resistance.”
“There is an integration of roles between the Israeli entityand the Palestinian security forces in the West Bank to uproot theresistance,” Abu Laila told reporters.
