Musharraf plans to visit Benazir hometown for condolence

Islamabad : President Pervez Musharraf intends to visit the hometown of assassinated Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto to offer condolences over her death with the family, a cabinet minister said on Monday.

Benazir was killed in firing and suicide attack on November 27 after she addressed a big public meeting in the city of Rawalpindi.

President Musharraf in his televised address on November 27 conveyed condolences with Benazir’s widower Asif Ali Zardari and his children.

Caretaker Federal Ministers Ansar Burney said that he and a few other ministers visited Naudero the home town of Benazir Bhutto and conveyed condolences on behalf of the President and the Prime Minister.

He said that the President and the interim Prime Minister Muhammadmian Soomro plan to visit Naudero to personally offer condolences.

The minister said that Benazir killing may be a conspiracy, saying the country is passing through a crucial time and the people should unite to face the challenges.

He laid floral wreath at the grave of Benazir Bhutto on behalf of President Pervez Musharraf and Caretaker Prime Minister Muhammadmian Soomro.
