Four more advisers of Bangladesh caretaker government quit

Dhaka : Four more advisers of the Bangladeshi caretaker government resigned Tuesday, bringing the total number of resignations to five since Dec 26 last year.

Information Adviser Mainul Hosein, Energy Adviser Tapan Chowdhury, and Industry Adviser Geetiara Safiya Chowdhury have sent their letters of resignation Tuesday.

Meanwhile, private news agency UNB has announced the resignation of Health Adviser Matiur Rahman. President Iajuddin Ahmed is yet to accept Rahman’s resignation.

On Dec 26 last year, Ayub Kadri, culture and education adviser, resigned after the robbery at Dhaka international airport of two ancient terracotta statues that were to be exhibited in Paris.

The present caretaker government in Bangladesh is headed by Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed and took office on Jan 12 in 2007 with 10 advisers.
