Baghdad : At least 13 people died and more than 20 were injured Monday in several dynamite attacks in Iraq, said police sources.
The biggest attack was produced against the host of an organization managing religious goods in Iraq, where 7 people died and nearly 20 were injured, press media said Monday.
Commander Riad al Samarrai was killed, and the rest were employees or collaborators of this Iraqi cultural institution, said an Iraqi high official.
A suicide command threw a bomb car against the ambulances transferring the victims, and no other details on the incident were given.
Near the city of Baquba, armed men shot a member of the Bourus Popular Committees, the local police said.
Local news agency Aswat al Iraq said another four people died and 16 were injured because of the explosion of a bomb in front of the Polytechnic School of Baghdad, and the police reported a person died and four police officers were injured because of the explosion of two artefacts.
A first bomb exploded on the way to the southern neighborhood of Jadiriya, causing the death of a civilian, and when the soldiers tried to remove the body, the second bomb exploded, causing injures to the soldiers.
Meanwhile, in the center of the northern city of Kirkuk, a missile made impact against the building where the studios of television station Al Iraqiya, but it did not cause any casualties, the Iraqi police command said.
Press media said this wave of attacks takes place in the eve of the announced trip of US President George W. Bush to this region of the world.
The visit to Iraq and Iran is not included in the US President’s agenda, but the reference to these nations is a forced point to be discussed when analyzing the regional situation, experts estimated.
