New Delhi : Over 7,500 posts of teachers are lying vacant in the country’s Kendriya Vidyalayas, a minister said Wednesday.
“(A total of) 7,556 posts of teachers are lying vacant in 1,102 Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country,” Minister of State for Human Resource Development Upendra Kushwaha told the Lok Sabha during Question Hour.
He said the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) had recently recruited 3,837 teachers, and the recruitment process for 1,797 additional teachers was at its final stage.
“Also, 5,814 posts of teachers in various categories have been filled up on a contractual basis so that the students do not suffer,” he added.
At present, 1,102 Kendriya Vidyalayas are functioning under the KVS, including three abroad.
