Srinagar: A sarpanch was killed by guerrillas in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district Sunday, police said.
“Militants shot Muhammad Sultan, sarpanch in Nazimpora village in Shopian district, today evening from close range. He succumbed to critical bullet wounds while being shifted to hospital,” a police official said here.
Reports from the village said the slain sarpanch belonged to the National Conference.
