The function was graced by President of Popular Front of India (PFI), Manipur chapter, Maulana Khalid Rashid, General Secretary of PFI, Manipur, Arif Khan, President of AIIC, Manipur, Maulana Aslamjan, Vice President of AIIC, Manipur, Md. Abdus Salam, Executive Member of Manipur Muslim Online Forum (MMOF) Md. Farukh, among others, as Presidium members.
Speakers at the function remembered the unfortunate events that led to the destruction of the historic Babri Masjid at Ayodhya on December 6, 1992 and the riots that took place in many cities following the demolition. The speakers also strongly condemned all those people involved in the demolition of the mosque and riots that took the lives of more than 2000 lives.
Later the gathering took few resolutions, which included construction of a new mosque at the place where Babri Masjid once stood and giving befitting retribution to the people who were involved in the destruction of the masjid.
The Council is going to submit a memorandum consisting of the resolutions taken at the gathering to the Chief Minister, Union Home Minister, Prime Minister, President and other concerned authorities.
Many Hindus in India believe the site where Babri Masjid once stood is the birthplace of Lord Ram and a giant temple dedicated to him should be built there, whereas Muslims want to build a mosque at the site.
It may be recalled that the Allahabad High Court stated in a 2010 ruling that the land where Babri Masjid was located be divided into 3 parts: one for Ram Lalla, represented by the Hindu Mahasabha for the construction of a temple, another for the Sunni Waqf Board and the third for Hindu group Nirmohi Akhara.
