Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Shrimati Urmila Mittal Memorial Trust (SUMMT), New Delhi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote female education and empower women.
Under the MoU, the SUMMT has agreed to constitute 100 scholarships for female students of the AMU. As per the arrangement, 50 scholarships will be given to girls pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering, Unani Medicine, Management, Law, Agricultural Sciences and Commerce, while the rest will be distributed among girls pursuing vocational and diploma courses.
The MoU further clarifies that an amount of Rs 2,000 will be awarded to girls pursuing degree courses while Rs 1500 will be awarded to the girl students of vocational and diploma courses for entire duration of the course, a release from AMU PRO said.
Professor Anis Ismail, Dean, Students’ Welfare said that relevant application forms are available in the office and online on the website of DSW, which can be submitted up to May 25, 2015. He further pointed out that the award money will be directly credited in the bank accounts of the selected students, the release added.
