New Delhi : Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Monday criticised the Narendra Modi-led government’s foreign policy and said its vision for the India-Pakistan relationship was confusing.
Speaking to media persons outside the parliament, Tharoor said: “The prime minister should explain what is the vision for India-Pakistan relationship as there seems to be a great confusion.”
He also raised questions on the meeting of National Security Advisors of India and Pakistan and asked: “How come the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) changed its tone with Pakistan?”
The NSAs of India and Pakistan met in Bangkok on Sunday and “agreed to carry forward the constructive engagement”.
While reiterating that the Congress party was not against the meeting, he said: “It is good to talk to neighbours but there should be no confusion about the policy of government.”
“Congress party also wants peace but with self-respect,” he added.
