Lucknow: A delegation of Muslim clerics, led by Aishbagh Eidgah Imam Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli, met Akhilesh Yadav and submitted a memorandum of demands to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.
The delegation, under the aegis of All India Jamiat Ul Muslimeen, headed by Farangi Mahli thanked the CM for his efforts towards the development of the Muslims. They requested him to pay attention to a host of issues, including the constitution of a minority development boards to implement government schemes among Muslims, 20% reservation to Muslims in government jobs, police and PAC and also prevent the fake implication of innocent Muslims on terror charges. The delegation also demanded that the Samajwadi Party’s MPs raise their voice for restoring minority status of AMU and including of Muslims under article 341 of the constitution.
“We also demanded from the CM that no person or organisation should be allowed to do any function or work at Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya. Status quo should be maintained till decision comes from Supreme Court,” Farangi Mahli said. He also raised the problems faced by Muslims in constructing new mosques in government and private colonies. Another demand for including of Muslim gardener in OBC list was also mentioned.
“Discussion on Urdu also took place which included inclusion of Muslim clerics who were freedom fighters in course material, compulsory Urdu education from Class 1 to 10, setting up Urdu department in colleges etc,” he said.
The delegation also demanded that a law should be framed where strict punishment should be there for those who give derogatory statements against religious figures.
The delegation comprised of Vice President of AIMPLB Maulana Shah Fakhruddin Ashraf Kichauchvi, Imam Gyanwapi Mosque Varanasi Maulana Nasir Fakhri and several others.
“The CM listened to our demands with sympathy and assured redressal,” Mahli said.
