New Delhi : About 6.62 per cent of the total RTI requests were rejected in 2015-16, the lowest in the past five years, Parliament was informed on Wednesday.
Out of 11,65,904 RTI requests received in 2015-16, 64,666 (6.62 percent) were rejected, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
As information given by the Central Information Commission (CIC), in 2014-15, out of 8,45,032 RTI requests received, 63,351 (8.39 per cent) requests were rejected.
In 2013-14, out of 9,62,630 RTI requests received, 60,127 (7.21 per cent) were rejected. In 2012-13, out of 8,86,681 RTI requests received, 62,231 (7.70 per cent) were rejected.
In 2011-12, out of 7,05,976 RTI requests received, 52,313 (8.30 per cent) requests were rejected.
