Aligarh : The Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union (AMUSU) will conduct a mass tree plantation drive on April 25, 2017, under a social service initiative, “Udaan Social Projects”.
The program is named “One Person, One Tree” with a vision that each and every person associated with AMU plants at least one tree. The program will be inaugurated by the AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) at the Maulana Azad Library premises.
AMUSU has confirmed that dignitaries from the District Administration will also be present during the inauguration. This plantation drive is an attempt to create a record of planting most number of trees in a day by an educational institute.
The plantation drive is being supported by the Land and Garden Department, AMU; UP Forest Department and various other NGOs run by students of AMU.
After the inauguration at Maulana Azad Library, the plantation drive will continue in the various halls of residences associated with AMU under the supervision of respective Provosts and Chairmen.
Faizul Hasan (President, AMUSU) as the Convener, Mohd Nadeem Ansari (Vice President, AMUSU) as the Co-Convener, Nabeel Usmani (Secretary, AMUSU) as the Joint Convener; Vaseel K and Sadaf Rasool (Cabinet Members, AMUSU) as the Organizing Secretary are front runners of the drive.
Rameez M Sydeek, Mohammad Naved Khan, Umair R Khan and Mirza Ali Beg, Mohd Kamil Vakil, Mohd Yawar and Ajmal Majeed are also enthusiastically involved in the plantation drive.
