Lucknow, (IANS): A 17-year-old girl, on way to her school, was stabbed to death by four youths in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district on Tuesday after she resisted their attempts to molest her, police said.
Class 12 student Ragini Dubey was rushed to a nearby hospital in Ballia but had succumbed to her excessive blood loss.
The four assailants escaped after the incident even as onlookers stood dazed by the turn of events. The girl belonged to Bajaha village and was studying at a private school. Passersby later told police that she was intercepted by four boys, including the son of the village head, near the Kali temple in Shankarpur village.
When she resisted their attempts to molest her, the boys kicked her cycle and she fell. They then attacked her with a knife many times and fled.
Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Pal Singh said a team has been set up to nab the culprits, while the girl’s body of the girl has been sent for post-mortem.
