Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh was gripped with communal tension on Tuesday, but the administration soon stepped in and took control.
According to our sources, the Hindu community took out a ‘Jhanda Yatra’ in respect to Hindu god Hanuman in Saikadakhedi village of Sehore.
A small verbal spat that happened during the procession march, between two individuals took a violent turn very quickly and two communities started pelting stones and fire bombs at each other.
The clash has left more than six people injured. Five of the injured people have been admitted into Bhopal’s Hamidia hospital for the treatment.
Rioters soon torched various shops and vehicles parked in public parkings damaging goods worth thousands of rupees.
Sehore, the home district of Chief Minister of MP Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is situated close to Bhopal on Indore-Bhopal highway and rioters are reported to have pelted stones on the buses and vehicles crossing through the highway.
District collector Tarun Kumar Pithode and SSP AP Singh have been camping in the area since the incident occurred and have assured media that everything is under control.
Administrative officials have urged the civilians to not to pay attention to misleading and fake photos and videos being circulated on social media.
