We are currently accepting applications for young and aspiring journalists to join TCN’s flagship journalism training and mentorship program. The vision of the program is to provide training and capacity building for authentic voices from communities traditionally absent in mainstream Indian media. Individuals from under-represented groups are highly encouraged to apply.
The goal of the SEED apprenticeship program is to provide employment, tell news stories of marginalized communities and prepare a young person for a life that works towards the empowerment of the marginalized in India. SEED stands for Support for Education & Economic Development and is a charitable organization with a vision of supporting the underprivileged in India. www.seedhydusa.org
The SEED journalism apprenticeship consists of training on work-related projects, field work for the first 12 months, followed by an assessment of an apprentice’s progress and readiness for career in journalism by combining in-house education along with on-the-job training for the following 12 months.
After two years of training apprentices are given the option to apply for an available employment opportunity at TCN or apply for any other opportunities in the industry. It is a professional, vocational training scheme that doesn’t compromise on the exacting standards that are vital in modern newsrooms. Former journalism apprentices with TCN have gone on to join reputable organizations.
