Kolkata: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board will hold its 20th session in Kolkata from 29th February to 2nd March. The session will discuss several issues confronting Muslims in India. Of all, training for district-level Qazis and anti-madrasa campaign will be major issues to be discussed in the session.
On February 29, the Executive Council of AIMPLB will deliberate on the issue of compulsory registration of Nikah. The Council will also discuss issues related to proposed state-level conferences for training of Qazis across the country. Given the massive campaign by media and government agencies to tarnish the image of madrasas, the Council will deliberate on proposals for protection of the religious identity of madrasas.
On March 2, the last day of the session that is to be attended by the members of the Board and the invitees, AIMPLB will review various cases filed in different courts in connection with Muslim Personal Law. It will also review steps taken in connection with Social Reform Movement. Another important issue to be discussed in the session will be the implementation of the report on the constitution of Darul Qaza at all important places in the country. The progress in court cases related to Babri Masjid will also be discussed in the session.
