Madhya Pradesh to set up mineral-based SEZ

Jabalpur : A mineral-based Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will be developed in Jabalpur district at a cost of Rs.1.58 billion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said here Saturday.

Chouhan said that the process to start the SEZ in Hargarh village on 250 acres of land would begin soon after getting approval from the central government.

Addressing a investors’ meet here, the chief minister said that once the SEZ was developed, it would facilitate exports worth over Rs.21.31 billion in five years and provide direct and indirect employment to about 70,000 people.

On Friday, Chouhan laid the foundation stone for a new industrial area in the Hargarh village. Of the 630.50 acres of land available for industrial use in Hargarh village, the new industrial area would be established on 125 acres with Rs.16.8 million investment. Basic infrastructure like road, water and power would be completed in three months.
