Bhubaneswar : India Wednesday successfully tested pilotless target aircraft Lakshya from a base in Orissa, defence sources said.
The indigenously developed aircraft flight was tested from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea in the district of Balasore, some 230 km from here.
Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Lakshya has been tested several times in past years.
It is a sub-sonic, reusable aerial target system, which is remote-controlled from the ground and is designed to impart training to pilots to destroy incoming enemy targets.
