Lok Sabha adjourned till Wednesday morning

New Delhi : Amid noisy protests from opposition members, the Lok Sabha was adjourned without conducting any business when it resumed the day’s session at 3 p.m. after the railway budget presentation Tuesday.

The lower house was earlier adjourned till 3 p.m. soon after Railway Minister Lalu Prasad presented the railway budget for 2008-09 as opposition members created noisy scenes and walked out.

When the house met at 3 p.m., the opposition parties did not allow it to function. Members from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Shiv Sena and Samajwadi Party rushed towards the well of the house and shouted slogans.

They were demanding waiver of farm loans and water supply to Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.

The house was presided over by deputy Speaker Devendra Prasad Yadav, who adjourned it till 11 a.m. Wednesday. The House had met for only 12 minutes.
