Nairobi : The Kenyan Government and the opposition arrived to an agreement in this capital on Thursday over sharing power, reported the main mediator and ex UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
At the end of the meeting between president Emilio Mwai Kibabi and Raila Odinga from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), it was reported that they had ó arrived at an agreement ó to create a coalition cabinet.
The mediating efforts of the UN ex Secretary General Kofi Annan made opponents meet in order to try to solve the differences and speed up talks which have failed until now.
In this Thursday’s meeting also participated the ex Tanzanian president Benjamin Mkapa and the current president of the African Union and Tanzania Head of State Jakaya Kikwete who arrived here last Tuesday.
Thursday’s meeting was Annan’s third, the first two with Kibabi and Odinga separately so far this week.
Kibabi and Odinga agreed to create the prime minister post that will be led by the latter but nothing has come to fruition until now because of power conflicts.
