Gaza : An Israeli incursion into the eastern fringes of Gaza city and Jabaliya on Saturday resulted in the death of 26 Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers, medical sources and Israel Radio said.
The medical sources said among the last who had fallen in today’s clashes were two Palestinian sisters who lost their lives in an explosion of an Israeli tank shell in the region of Jabal Al-Rayess east of Jabaliya. The two victims, who were badly disfigured, were identified as Samah and Salwa Asalliah.
The sources put the number of the injured among the Palestinians at more than 70, including a number with serious cuts, adding that a three-day girl infant was wounded when a missile crashed into a house near Jabaliya. Members of her family were also wounded when the rocket blew up.
Al-Aqsa Briagdes of Fatah said four of its fighters were wounded in today’s clashes.
“Our strugglers are putting up fierce resistance side by side with the other Palestinian resistance factions,” it said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Ministry sources claimed that the Palestinians fired 15 missiles over the past hours in the direction of southern Israel, adding that some of these rockets were of Katyusha type that had been supplied by Iran and smuggled through an underground tunnel at the border.
