Santiago (Chile) : The Indian hockey team needing to win the second Olympic Qualifiers to keep their streak of having played in every Olympic Games since 1928 intact, have started with a comprehensive 8-0 win over Russia in their opening match.
However India’s main rivals in the tournament, Great Britain were even more convincing notching up a dozen in their 12-0 win over Mexico.
In the third match of the day Saturday, the most closely fought one, Austria stunned hosts Chile 4-3.
