Damascus : The Third Arab Conference on the Future Orientations of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has supported Syria’s application to join the international association.
Concluding its meetings here Wednesday, the WTO’s recommendations said that Syria’s seven-year wait to obtain the status of observer at the association was not accepted under no rules or conditions.
The conferees called on the Arab League Economic and Social Council to exert all needed efforts to facilitate the bid by Syria and other Arab countries to the WTO.
The conference was organised by the Syrian Ministry of Economy and Trade with the cooperation of the Arab Organisation for Administration Development, the UNDP and the Union of Syrian Chambers of Commerce.
