Panchkula (Haryana) : Lahore Badshahs registered their second consecutive victory after demolishing Hyderabad Heroes by 9 wickets in the Twenty20 tournament of Indian Cricket League (ICL) here.
In a one-sided affair Thursday night, the Badshahs bowled out the Heroes for just 86 runs and then reached the target in just nine overs losing one wicket.
After Heroes captain Chris Harris elected to bat, Badshahs struck a blow in the very first over with Azhar Mahmood castling Jimmy Maher for 5.
A horrible mix up between the promising Anirudh Singh and Ambati Rayudu resulted in Singh being run out, leaving the Heroes reeling at 13 for two.
Badshahs’ in-form bowler Rana Naved got into the act getting Rayudu to nick one to the slip cordon and Inzamam-ul Haq pouched it safely. By the fifth over, the Heroes were struggling at 21 for four.
Justin Kemp and Harris did not trouble the scorers much and were packed off, leaving the Heroes’ innings in tatters at 31 for six. Nicky Boje (39) Abdul Razzaq (10) tried hard to resurrect the innings but could not do much.
Azhar Mahmood was the pick of the bowlers, claming five wickets for 13 runs.
In reply, Badshahs opened their innings with two attacking openers Imran Farhat and Imran Nazir (62). Razzaq got rid of Farhat in the very first over, but at the other end Nazir was dealing in boundaries and his partnership with Humayun Farhat (18) was worth 70 runs in only 46 balls.
Two big sixes off spinner I.S. Reddy by Nazir took the Badshahs home to a comprehensive victory in the ninth over.
Brief Scores: Hyderabad heroes 86 all out (N. Boje 39, A. Mahmood 5/13, Rana Naved 2/19) lost by 9 wickets to Lahore Badshahs 87/1 (Imran Nazir 62, H. Farhat 18, Abdul Razzaq 1/15).
