The spokesman said the rockets crashed into unused locations in the vicinity of the town of Sderot, but caused neither human injuries nor damage. The Sderot region was targeted with four missiles while two others hit the town of Kfar Izza, located east of Gaza Strip.

The fresh missile attack coincided with Israeli confirmation that a week-long lull in hostilities with the Palestinians was no longer in effect.

Islamic Jihad said it was responsible for firing two missiles on Sderot, while the National Resistance Brigades, the military wing of the Marxist-oriented Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), said in a statement its gunners fired a pair of rockets in the direction of the same target.

The missiles were fired in retaliation for the “Zionist massacres against our people and the brave resistance,” the splinter group said.
