UN Reports Three Murders in Sudan

By Prensa Latina

United Nations : The World Food Program expressed dismay Tuesday, because of the murder of three drivers working for this UN organization in Sudan, in the distribution of humanitarian help.

The crimes occurred in two separate attacks, one in the western province of Darfur and another in the south of Sudan, said WFP representative in Sudan Kenro Oshidari Tuesday.

This situation is totally unacceptable, said Oshidari, who called to immediately stop the attacks against the WFP personnel.

Oshidari expressed that all should understand that the drivers of the WFP vehicles serve for a neutral humanitarian purpose and if they are attacked, thousands of innocent people depending on that help to feed are affected. Since the beginning of 2008, 56 WFP trucks have been kidnapped in Sudan, 36 of them have not been recovered and the whereabouts of 24 of their drivers is ignored.
