Indian investors are interested to invest in the country’s biotechnology, food, chemicals and pharmaceuticals sectors, he told the media after calling on the chief minister of the northern Malaysian state of Kedah in this state capital Monday.

“Indians who are experts in these areas will be brought to Malaysia to discuss with Malaysian entrepreneurs joint partnership plans,” he said, adding that Indian firms were looking at expanding their businesses outside India and Malaysia offered a ready infrastructure and huge potential in the sectors concerned.

Ashok said Malaysia and India also had a lot in common in the areas of education, tourism, culture, medicine and petro-chemicals — all sectors which had yet to be fully explored.
Entrepreneurs from both the countries should take the opportunity to increase their joint efforts in these areas, he added.

He said India’s success in food production could be shared with Malaysia and hopefully there would be more aggressive two-way efforts between Malaysian and Indian investors.

Meanwhile, chief minister Azizan Abdul Razak said Kedah would be sending a trade mission to India and several other countries soon to attract more foreign direct investments (FDI)into the state.
