Quito : At least five British tourists were killed and 14 other people injured in a highway accident in western Ecuador, EFE news agency reported Monday quoting police officials.
The accident occurred Saturday night when a bus collided with a truck on the Sancan-Puerto Lopez highway in Manabi province, killing five tourists who were all British nationals, a police spokesman told EFE.
The five were all women and ranged in age from 18 to 26, said Gaston Bustamante, a prosecutor in the city of Jipijapa who is handling the case.
Bustamante said the cause of the accident was still under investigation.
