Kannur (Kerala) : Union Minister of Textiles Shankersinh Vaghela has said the central government will consider sanctioning projects like an integrated textile park in Kerala’s Kannur district if adequate land is provided.

Kannur district, around 300-km north of Kochi, is a major handloom textile centre in the state.

Vaghela asked the authorities to provide about 100 acres for the project. He said if the textile industry here forms a special purpose vehicle (SPV) in association with Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS), his ministry’s consultant for textile parks, and forward a proposal, he would give priority to it.
