Gaya: Since Independence of the country, the Muslim minority has been used as a vote-bank by all political parties which make promises during campaigns only to forget later, said Syed Shahabuddin, ex-MP and chief editor of Muslim India.
He was talking to journalists during his recent visit to Gaya to attend the annual function of local Shatabdi School. He said all political parties need Muslim votes. All parties are aware of the importance of Muslim votes, and that’s why they make promises to Muslims. This all because Muslims are minority and disunited.
On Muslim education, he said no one can stop the community from success when every student of the community starts reading. He advised Muslims to put pressure on state government to set up a primary school on every 300 population.
“Muslims should take advantage of Sarva Shikcha Abhiyan. Every educated unemployed youth should take responsibility to teach illiterate elders of his surroundings and elders to send their children to schools. They should also take responsibility to monitor what the children are studying in the schools. In this way the problem of education in the Muslim society will be vanished,” he suggested.
With the commencement of TV, Internet, computer and other means of communication, there will be no place for illiterates and ignorants in the 21st century. He also supported the idea of Muslim reservation.
He said Sachar Committee has put all truth, since independence to till date, before the central government. But it has diagnosed disease only, not remedy. The remedy has been suggested by Ranganath Mishra Commission.
