Banda Aceh, Indonesia : The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) is paying for the schooling of 500 tsunami orphans in Aceh Besar district, Antara news agency reported. “The program is aimed at assisting Aceh children in pursuing better education in the future,” the OIC`s administrative and financial manager, Era Purike, said yesterday.
Under the program kicked off in January 2008, each of the orphans deserved US$30 in educational aid per month. The assistance would be given until they were 18 years old, Era said adding that the aid consisted of $2 for tuition fee, $2 for healthcare, $2 for training courses and the rest for living cost.
