It published statements by communist parliament member Jorge Machado, about a report presented the previous week to the Portuguese Parliament by the Public Works Ministry, in charge of air traffic control in this country.

The official document shows that most of the 56 confirmed flights were carried out by the military, a justification used to not control the cargo, passengers, and missions, the legislator said.

Several European countries, including Portugal and Spain, are involved in multiple denunciations, which reveal that they were secret corridors to the US Central Intelligence Agency secret flights with prisoners on board.

The British Reprieve Non-Government Organization revealed in late January that 728 people illegally imprisoned in Guatanamo went through Portuguese territory or air space between January, 2002 and May, 2006.

The denunciation revealed the prisoners’ names and the list of 48 flights that transferred them, nine of which landed in Portuguese airports.

According to that list, the first of those flights happened on January 11, 2002, from the base of Moron, Spain, and the last flight was carried out on May 7, 2006, a period that involves three Portuguese governments, including the current administration.
