Patna: In a bid to remove economic backwardness from the Muslim community, the Bihar government has included Mallik, a Muslim caste, in Annexure II.
Fulfilling his electoral promise, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar included the Malliks in annexure II and his cabinet has approved the proposal, reports Rashtriya Sahara Urdu daily quoting Bihar Minority Commission chairman Naushad Alam. Annexure II is a category wherein Other Backward Classes are included.
It is hoped that this historic step by the chief minister will help in removing backwardness among Muslims and new avenues of educational and economic progress will open.
In another development, the government has decided to give 300% DA to madrasa teachers.
