Gaza : High tension is prevailing on Monday between the Islamic movement Hamas and a local faction called "the Army of Islam" after a shooting incident in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zahra told KUNA the tension began late Sunday night after gunmen opened fire at members of the executive squad.
Following the attack, the personnel detained the official spokesman of the "Army of Islam," Khattab Maqdessi, who took part in the shooting.
Abu Zahra added that Maqdessi, a leading member of the faction that holds BBC reporter Alan Johnston hostage, was wounded in the incident.
The spokesman added that several pro-Hamas persons were kidnapped after the shooting.
The "Army of Islam" kidnapped the Briton three months ago, demanding the release of three Qaeda activists, held in Britain and Jordan.
