Security Council Mission Visits Chad

United Nations : A Security Council mission arrived in Chad Friday, it thirds port of top of a tour through Africa to evaluate directly the situation of the areas in conflict in that territory.

During his two-day stay in that Central African country the representatives from 15 country-members of the Security Council have foreseen to meet local authorities and leaders of humanitarian organizations.

The UN mission arrived in N Djamena, Chad capital, coming from Khartoum where they it was received by Sudan President Omar Hassan Al Bassir Thursday.

Chad keeps closed its borders with Sudan since May after the neighbor country broke off bilateral relations after a rebel attack to a slum quarter in Khartoum.

Sudanese authorities accused Chad government of supporting that attack vindicated by the rebel organization Movement of Justice and Equality (MJI).

In the same way Chad government has previously accused Khartoum of backing rebel groups that attacked N Djamena a few months ago.

UN emissaries, the African Union (AU) and the Arab League have developed several mediating procedures to achieve a negotiated solution that could avoid armed confrontation between both countries.
