Islamabad : A TV cameraman was killed and few other photographers and journalists were injured while covering clashes between the security forces and students of religious seminaries in Islamabad on Tuesday, doctors and colleagues said.
One cameraman with bullet injuries is stated to be in critical condition.
A large number of foreign and local journalists, photographers and cameramen rushed as the firing started to cover the major event in the capital Islamabad.
Javed Ahmed, a cameraman for the London-based Urdu channel DM Digital was killed when hit by bullet at chest, his colleagues said.
He was taken to hospital but died of injuries.
Another cameraman of CNBC TV Israr Ahmed also received bullet injuries and was shifted to hospital.
He had received three bullets at back, stomach and hand. His condition was stated to be stable.
A photographer for English daily 'The Post' Abdul Wahab and photographer for Urdu daily 'Express' were also injured when hit by bullets.
Bureau Chief of Geo television Absar Alam was injured when a stone hit him at the head.
Another cameraman of ARY television was also injured when hit by stone.
Reporters, cameramen and photographers had to be caught several times in cross firing continued for several hours.
Reporters, cameramen and photographers alleged that the cameramen were killed and injured as the result of firing from the security forces.
The security forces had not reacted.
