New Delhi : Minister for Human Resource Development Arjun Singh Wednesday launched an online admission facility for secondary and senior secondary levels to facilitate learners to directly access the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
The facility initiated by the NIOS for the first time this year is expected to increase enrolment of students and thus provide the impetus to the government's effort of universalisation of secondary education.
Under the Admission 2007-Project (Ni-On), NIOS has chalked out three streams of online admissions for meeting the requirements of different groups of potential learners.
Under the first stream, all the learners can access NIOS directly online through its website www.nos.org to seek admission.
The second stream has been designed to save one year of all those who have been unsuccessful in the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), ICSE (Indian Council of Secondary Education) or other recognised state education boards.
The third stream also caters to the learners covered by the stream No.2 but allows them an additional advantage of appearing in an on-demand examination at secondary level only based on his or her state of academic preparation.
