Gaza : Deposed Palestinian Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh called the people to protest the decision of the emergency government to refuse to pay the salaries of workers who are members of the Islamic Resistance Movement in Gaza (Hamas).
This decision goes against the minimum rights of Palestinians, the ex head of Government told dozens of public servants gathered outside his office.
At least 140,000 residents of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are expected to receive full salaries as of Wednesday, after the March boycott of funds by Israel, the US and the European Union.
The measure excludes about 23,000 working Palestinians who are members of Hamas, and who the new head of Government Salam Fayad decided will not be paid.
Tel Aviv, Washington and the EU agreed to unfreeze the funds only to the Al Fattah-controlled Palestinian Authority, excluding members of the Islamic Resistance Movement from this payment.
Civil servants in Gaza will get their salaries if they serve the interests of the emergency government, said Fayad.
