Baramulla : Streets and roads including Srinagar Muzaffarabad National Highway in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district were flooded with people who continued spontaneous protest against controversial transfer of forest land to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) land transfer controversy.
The normal life for third consecutive day was thrown completely out of gear in every nook and corner of North Kashmir Baramulla district which observed a complete shut down in protest against the transfer of land to SASB. While the shops and other business establishment remained closed, attendance in both the government and private offices remained thin due to the non-plying of traffic on roads.
It was almost after twenty years frontier township Uri observed complete shutdown and protest demonstrations rock length and breadth Uri.
Board in cavalcade of Sumo’s hundreds of people from different villages of frontier township Uri holding black banners and placards which read slogans Humare Zameen Wapas Karoo aur Kashmir Chahood Do (return of land and leave Kashmir), shouted high pitch slogan against SASB and coalition government reached Baramulla town and protested in front of police station Barmaulla And burnt effigy of Ghulam Nabi Azad.
In apple township of Sopore hundreds of people took to streets early morning at Nowpora Jagir, Sangrama, Delina and in main town.
Irate mob in Sopore town pelted stones on the policemen deployed in strength at Muslim Peer, Shallpora, Kral Teng, Shahabad, Baba Yousf and in retaliation policemen fired teargas canisters and baton charged the protester forcing them to disperse.
Half dozen persons including policemen sustained minor injuries in clashes .Bashir Ahmed Dar of Muslim Sopore was critically injured when a teargas hit him on chest.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people from Heevan Sheeri Narwave took to roads this morning and staged strong protests on Srinagar- Muzaffarabad road at Sheeri main market.
The protesters burnt effigy of Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and Qazi Mohmmed Afzal.
Chanting anti- government and anti -shrine board slogans, protesters pelted stones on army convoy at Sheeri.
