Baghdad : Six people were killed in a series of blasts in Diyala province, north east of the capital Baghdad, and some 30 others were also injured.
According to the Diyala Operations Command, a blast Tuesday near a mourning gathering in Bahraz town killed two Sahwa militants and injured seven other people, including a policeman.
Another blast in the same town killed three civilians from one family and injured a fourth.
Elsewhere, an Iraqi policeman was killed and as many as 20 other people were wounded in a car bomb explosion early Tuesday, near a police checkpoint in Diyala’s biggest city, Baquba.
The security situation in the province has been on the decline, prompting Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki to say it would be the scene of the next major military operation once the Al-Amara operations are brought to an end.
