Kabul : Afghan Army and US-led coalition forces killed over 30 Taliban insurgents in Farah province of western Afghanistan, a coalition statement said Saturday.
Taliban militants ambushed Afghan forces with heavy machine guns, small arms and rocket-propelled grenades Friday near Danjabad village in Farah province, the statement said.
The Afghan army fought back with small arms fire while the coalition forces conducted air strikes. Over 30 rebels were killed and five Afghan soldiers were injured, the statement added.
About 13,000 coalition troops are operating in this country to hunt down militants. Rising Taliban insurgency has claimed over 2,700 people, most of them Taliban militants, this year.
