Dubai : Four Indians have been killed in two accidents in the Gulf.
Three Indians, a Pakistani and a Nepali were killed when the pick-up van they were travelling in got squashed between two heavy trucks in the emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to reports, the pick-up van was moving on the Malaiha Road Tuesday morning when a heavy truck tried to enter the road.
The pick-up driver tried to avoid the truck but failed to do so as there was another heavy truck parked on the left side of the road. The pick-up ended up being sandwiched between the two heavy trucks killing all the five passengers.
The deceased have been identified as Lakhbir, 50, Osman, 21, Nowfal, 23 (all Indians), Shakir, 50, from Pakistan, and Ram, 51, from Nepal.
In a separate incident, an Indian worker was killed in a construction site accident in Bahrain Monday morning.
Shaikh Wahid, 38, was working in scaffolding division of a construction site in the island of Sitra in Bahrain when some iron pipes being offloaded from a forklift machine fell on him.
The injured worker was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the Gulf Daily News reported.
Wahid, who hailed from the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, leaves behind his wife and two children.
