Hyderabad : The toll in the fire accident in Secunderabad-Kakinada Gautami Express has risen to 32, according to an official press release put out by the railway ministry on its website. Another 8 injured persons were undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital in Warangal, it said.
However there was confusion about the toll as the local officials continued to put the toll at 20.
“As per the latest information available at the headquarters 32 people have died in Gautami Express fire accident”, the press release said.
The local officials point out that they have recovered 15 bodies so far from the gutted coaches and search was still on for the bodies. “There are only charred pieces bodies and human bones. It is very difficult to give an exact figure at this juncture”, a senior official of South Central Railway said.
