Ankara : Tehran and Ankara are in talks over expansion of mutual cooperation in various fields, especially in the cultural, financial, banking and transportation sectors.
An Iranian politico-economic delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ali-Reza Sheikh-Attar, is in Ankara for talks on the issues ahead of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s Turkey visit to meet with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul in Istanbul.
The Iranian and Turkish officials, starting the second round of talks here on Friday, are expected to draft contracts for cooperation in cultural, financial, banking, transportation and commercial domains.
Cooperation between Iranian and Turkish national libraries and railway transportation are also on agenda of the talks.
The proposals drafted by the sides, dealing with the subjects as members of different specialised committees, will be finally endorsed by related officials during meetings of Iranian and Turkish presidents.
Sheikh-Attar and his Turkish counterpart had in the first round of their talks here on Thursday discussed ways of expanding mutual ties and cooperation.
Sheikh-Attar told reporters on Thursday that President Ahmadinejad and his Turkish counterpart will in their talks touch on issues of mutual interest as well as international and regional events.
He said that under present sensitive juncture, Iran and Turkey can play a decisive role in the region through mutual cooperation.
Three main committees, i.e. the Economic Committee, the Border, Consulate and Security Committee and the Energy and Transportation Committee were formed after the first round of mutual talks on Thursday to draw up highlights of mutual cooperation.
