New Delhi: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) National President A. Sayeed, in a press statement said, “Nitish Kumar’s resignation from the post of Bihar’s Chief Minister and shifting of loyalty from Maha Ghatbandhan to NDA is against mandate of the people of Bihar. Sayeed said that in the previous assembly election in Bihar majority of people of Bihar voted for the alliance of secular parties to keep away communal party BJP and its alliance. During the election, Nitish Kumar strongly opposed BJP and PM Narendra Modi and said this nation needs only secular ideals to protect its diversity. However, after assuming power as CM, Nistish Kumar started inclination towards Narendra Modi and his policies which was against the very principles of ‘Mahaghatbandhan’.

He also said, “Nitish Kumar’s opportunistic and uncertainty of political mindset has damaged the image of ‘Mahaghatbandhan’ many times. His stance towards his colleagues actually benefitted BJP and its allies. Now, resigning from the position of CM and again trying to become CM by seeking support from BJP is an absolute betrayal of the mandate of the people of Bihar.”

Not only SDPI, Welfare Party of India (WPI) has also called Nitish Kumar’s game as a betrayal to the mandate. WPI’s national president S.Q.R. Ilyas said in a statement that the new government is politically unethical and contravent to people’s mandate. He asked Nitish -Modi alliance to take people’s mandate afresh.

“The JDU-RJD-Congress grand alliance had taken people’s verdict and came to power in Bihar on strong anti-Sangh sentiments and for a secular platform. It had given impetus to all non-communal forces across the country. He should have taken the opinion of at least his legislative members before going for such an unholy alliance. Nitish has proved beyond doubt that he is not a man of principles and values but behind power,” said Ilyas.

“It is now well established that the hue and cry of corruption against Lalu and his son was part of a large conspiracy. The allegation that the Governors have turned into mere political tools have been once more proven with the developments taken place in Patna the other day. The Governor should be sacked to establish constitutional dignity,” the statement continued.
