“Peace or Perish – There is no other choice” by internationally acclaimed thinker J.P. Vaswani was released here Monday night.

Moved by the 9/11 attack on World Trade Center in USA that cast a shadow of terror across the world, Vaswani started penning down his realisation on peace and compassion towards the mankind and finally came up with this “optimistic manifesto” of building a more harmonious world.

“Peace might be fragile and vulnerable – but peace is possible and attainable, even in a turbulent world like ours,” Vaswani said at the launch.

A powerful orator, he has addressed distinguished audiences at the United Nations, The World Parliament of Religion, The Millennium Conference of Spiritual Leaders, besides other international platforms.

“The book is a practical blueprint for authentic and long-lasting worldwide peace and it begins with you, the individual,” he said.

Dignitaries like Sister Nirmala, superior general, Missionaries of Charity, city mayor Bikash Bhattacharya, Justice Ashim Roy, Mizoram Governor M.M. Lakhera and Ramakrishna Mission Seva Prathistan secretary Swami Sarvalokananda attended the launch.

Vaswani has written over 60 inspirational books, many of which have been translated in regional and world languages.

The book was earlier launched in the US with success. Its first edition has already been sold out and was praised by Dalai Lama, writer and diplomat Shashi Tharoor and Art of Living propounder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

“There should no killing in the world. In the 21st century, we must take a pledge to secure even the rights of animals to live in this world,” Vaswani said.
