New Iranian envoy submits credentials to Belgian king

Berlin : Iran’s new Ambassador to Belgium Ali Asghar Khaji submitted his credentials to Belgian King Albert II in Brussels.

Iran’s top diplomat in Belgium stressed his country’s interest in promoting and expanding bilateral ties.

Khaji who served previously as Iran’s envoy in Saudi Arabia and Morocco, pointed to traditional relations between Belgium and Iran, saying it could be the basis for promoting relations.

Meanwhile, the Belgian king thanked Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the cordial greetings, while referring to the 100-year-old history of friendly bilateral ties.

The king also urged the expansion of relations between Brussels and Tehran, calling it important.
