New Delhi : Delhi Police Sunday solved the daylight heist of Rs.900,000 from a private firm's employee outside a bank here Wednesday, arresting a man allegedly involved in at least 20 criminal offences.
Police also recovered a total of Rs.282,000 from Shahdara resident Nitin, who allegedly had committed the sensational heist outside Indian Overseas Bank's Karol Bagh branch in central Delhi along with two accomplices Dharmendra and Vicky.
Police said they were looking for Nitin's accomplices and hoped to arrest them soon. Police also hoped to recover the remaining amount.
In the daring robbery, Madhav, an employee of Ranjeet Nagar-based Kaveri Imports Private Ltd, had been robbed of his bag containing Rs.900,000 when he was parking his motorcycle outside the bank.
After registering Madhav's complaint, police showed to him the photographs of several criminals who are known to have a similar modus operandi and he identified Nitin, who was subsequently arrested after a series of raids in various places.
Police said the gang led by Nitin used to watch customers at banks withdrawing money and loot many of them at opportune time.
Nitin's mother-in-law is currently in Tihar Jail after she was nabbed while transporting 5 kg of smack in Vadodara in Gujarat, according to police.
