Dubai : The recently formed India Forum, intended to help Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in Saudi Arabia, announced that it would soon set up a data bank on employment and business opportunities.

The initiative was announced at a press conference Wednesday in Riyadh. The event was attended by India's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia M.O.H. Farook, who is also the forum's patron, along with Afzal J. Sanai, president, K.S. Rajan, Saeeduddin and Dilnawaz Romi, vice presidents, S. Jayaseelan, general secretary, and Mukhtar Khan, joint secretary of the forum.

Explaining the aims and objectives of the forum, Sanai said it was mainly intended to help NRIs in the kingdom and identify a rehabilitation programme for them when they returned home, The Arab News reported.

To start with, the forum would launch a database on business and job opportunities for NRIs.

"The data bank will also create a pool of talented Indians together with the details of their specialities for prospective employers," Sanai said.

The Indian ambassador assured the embassy's support to the forum and said its presence would go a long way in serving the interests of the NRI community.
